SPIER CONTEMPORARY WALKABOUT

Clive van den Berg, the curator of Spier Contemporary, will host a free walkabout of the exhibition at Johannesburg Art Gallery on 17 April at 12:00. Booking not necessary.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTED

The playwright and respected arts administrator Mike van Graan has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Africa Centre.  He takes over from Tanner Methvin who had been standing in as acting Executive Director.  Methvin will continue to sit on the board of the AC.

Spier Contemporary is coming to Joburg

March 13th, 2008

The Spier Contemporary in Cape Town has received rave reviews both locally and internationally and is now coming to Gauteng. Join us for the public launch at the Johannesburg Art Gallery on Saturday 15 March 2008 at 19.00, featuring live performances by three of the ten performance pieces on the show. The exhibition runs until 31 May 2008 and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am until 5pm at the Johannesburg Art Gallery.

Public workshops in the performing arts

An exciting programme of public workshops will run from Mon 25 February to Sat 1 March. Performers, designers and performance makers are invited to attend these workshops by leading South African experts in theatre-making, design, dance and vocal performance. This is an opportunity to extend the boundaries of your art, work into the finer details of your craft, and indulge in creativity. Facilitators include Gerhard Marx, Gregory Maqoma, Savitri Naidoo and many others.
